Alpharma Animal Health

Alpharma’s portfolio consists of in feed animal health products. The chlortetracycline medicated premix, Aurofac, is used in the treatment of enteric, respiratory and systemic diseases in poultry and enteric and respiratory conditions in pigs. Aurofac is available 2 concentrations: 100 mg and 250 mg per gram.

Due to the unique granulation process use in the manufacture of Aurofac the chlortetracyline is contained within the granules, keeping the active ingredient stable in the product and available to the target animals. It ensures minimizing dust whilst allowing even distribution, accurate dosing and reducing cross-contamination and segregation within the feed. (All products in the Alpharma medicated feed additives range, except Cygro and Deccox, benefit from this granulation process.)

For the control of coccidiosis in poultry, Alpharma has the widest range of products on the market comprising all four different types of anticoccidials: monovalent ionophore (Salinomax®), monovalent glycoside ionophore (Cygro®), divalent ionophore (Avatec®) and chemical anticoccidial (Cycostat®). Alpharma is unique in offering products from each of these four groups, and is thus able to provide a product which fits into every stage of a coccidiosis control program, allowing effective rotation from one product family to another to prevent resistance build up. All four are licensed for broilers with additional indications for Avatec ® being turkeys and pullets, Cygro ® turkeys and Cycostat ® turkeys and rabbits. In addition Game birds are able to benefit from the use of Avatec Game ®

Deccox 6% (decoquinate) is for the prevention of coccidiosis in lambs and calves by treatment of their feed and as an aid in the control of toxoplasmosis by medication of ewe feed.

Alphamune G ®, is a GM-free, yeast cell wall derived feed ingredient, produced according to Alpharma’s pharmaceutical standards and by the same granulation technology. It provides certified levels of beta-glucans as well as mannan oligosaccharides. Its use leads to a significant return on investment and tangible performance benefits in the field.

Alphaflor™, a new metabolic complement, is a unique product derived from 2 inactivated lactic acid bacteria, Lactobacillus rhamnosus and Lactobacillus farciminis.

Alphaflor™ has a broad mode of action, offering an optimal protection of the gut when challenged by pathogens. It enhances the intestinal health and reduces the need for other interventions.

Alphaflor™, available in a suspendable form for in water/milk-application or as an in-feed presentation, can be applied in different species: pigs, poultry, cattle, goats, sheep, gamebirds, rabbits and horses.
