An exciting range of in-feed flavours and sweeteners is now available from C&H Nutrition. Sourced from a global leader in flavour technology, C&H Nutrition now offers an extensive range of products with the potential to offer custom-developed flavour combinations from more than 800 allergy-tested raw materials. The flavours are encapsulated for longer lasting sensory effects and improved stability, and are more economical than non-encapsulated products. Palatants are available in powder, liquid (water-soluble) or oil soluble formulations. Expert advice is on hand to ensure that selected flavours are compatible with certain feed ingredients, such as fishmeal and fats. Use of an incompatible flavour means the unpleasant taste may not be masked, so it is essential to ensure the correct flavour for each application is chosen. C&H Nutrition also offers three sweeteners: Piggysweet is a uniquely formulated sweetener specifically designed for inclusion in piglet diets up to four months of age. Trials have proved it to outperform a leading sweetener when included in the diets of weaned piglets. Appitello Naturale is an entirely natural sweetener, produced from plant extracts and designed to enhance the palatability of animal feed in situations where saccharin based sweeteners are not permitted. It has a sweetening power approximately 300 times greater than sucrose making it a highly effective natural solution. It is suitable for use in all species and there is no upper dose limit. Phytosweet is a plant-derived appetising additive with a pleasant, hay-like scent. With a sweetening power 40-50 times that of sugar, it allows reduced dietary molasses inclusions whilst still boosting feed intake. Flavodan – a range of feed flavours from Danisco Animal Nutrition Flavodan* feed flavours include a wide range of natural and nature-identical flavours which are designed to enhance the palatability of swine and ruminant feeds. Included in the range are specific products designed to mask the taste of certain raw materials such as fishmeal, rapeseed meal and organic acids. Particular emphasis is put on product stability, both through processing and in to the finished feed. Flavodan feed flavours are also available containing a highly effective sweetener. Trials have shown that Flavodan can increase feed intake leading to improved animal performance, as well as allowing increased flexibility in feed formulations. Novus has a strategic partnership with CaroTech/IQF for the distribution of pigments to the feed industry. Novus product range encompasses amongst others: • Xamacol® 15 Liquid and Xamacol® 40 (powder) are yellow pigments based on natural xanthophylls (Lutein/Zeaxanthin) extracted from Tagetes erecta. • Xarocol® 20 is a red pigment containing 20 g of paprika xanthophylls (Capsicum annuum) per kg. Red xanthophyll fraction is standardized and its content is guaranteed. Xamacol as well as Xaracol contain high level of activity/gram which means they take up less space in premixes and finished feed. At the same time, the carrier materials are both carefully selected and very specifically sized, giving excellent product dispersion without being dusty, and ensuring that the animals receiving feed containing the pigmenter product(s) have a consistent supply of pigmenters in their diet. As both red and yellow products are based on ingredients of natural origin, CaroTech/IQF takes great care to monitor and adjust raw materials from different batches to ensure a consistent end product: raw materials are all held and assayed before ‘positive release’ into production, then finished products are all analysed and ‘positively released’ before despatch Additionally, IQF conducts regular feeding trials to ensure that the products meet the expectations for biological activity as well as passing the lab tests!
